Herbert E. Johnson, 77, of Aurora passed away Thursday, January 4, 2007.

He was born on August 24, 1929, in Mondovi, Wisconsin, to Clarence and Lulie (Nyre) Johnson. He married Lenore Bortle, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, on June 30, 1952.

Herbert lived in Wisconsin until 1955, when he moved to Illinois. He worked at the Barber Greene plant in Aurora for 29 years and retired from Kelly's Hardware. Herbert loved working on small engines and the family camp outs. He was a member of the Tiger Club and the Phoenix Club.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lenore; his daughters, Jeannie (Terry) Leland, Judy (Tai) Park, Kathy (Robert) Marks, Karen (Richard) Lira, and Lori (Robert) Greiter; his sisters, Lorraine DeBel, Doris (LeRoy) Nelson, Evelyn (James) Cleveland, and Carrine Tomter; his grandchildren, Christopher Johnson, Amanda (Nils) Vann, Jason Park, Waylon Johnson, Kelly Park, Julie Marks, Matthew Park, Steven Marks, Tyler Senft, and Katie Marks; his great-granddaughters, Skie and Irulan.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter; his brother, Burton Johnson; and his two brother-in-laws, Richard Tomter and Marcel DeBel.

A memorial service will be held Thursday 3:00 p.m. January 11, 2007 at The Healy Chapel 332 W. Downer Pl. Aurora with Rev. Jock Ficken officiating. Visitation will take place Thursday, January 11, 2007 starting at 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be private.
