Davenport Woman, Survived by Relatives Here, to Be Buried Tomorrow
Mrs. Frank Tillotson passed away at her home in Davenport. She was born and reared in Iowa City, and will be recalled by many pioneers as Miss Margaret Boarts.
The funeral will be held at the Ruhl undertaking parlors, tomorrow afternoon, at 2 in Davenport. The services will be in charge of the Women’s Relief Corps, of which Mrs. Tillotson was a worthy and loyal member.
She was 77 years of age.
Surviving are her son, James, a member of the Davenport police force, and numerous nephews and nieces, who reside in Iowa City. She was the last survivor of her immediate family.
Mrs. E. A. Putnam, a niece, and Mrs. James Berry, also a niece, were called to the shadowed home, but arrived too late to bid their aunt goodbye. Mrs. Putnam’s mother, the late Mrs. Harry C. Smith, was a sister of Mrs. Tillotson and those two estimable pioneers were young brides together, a double wedding marking the great day of their lives.
Old friends of Mrs. Tillotson in Iowa City will experience sorrow as they read of her passing away. Source: Iowa City Press-Citizen (Iowa City, Iowa), Tuesday, 15 July 1924, page 6.
