Wanda R. Wenzel, 89, of LaGrange, IN died Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Life Care Center of LaGrange.
Ms. Wenzel was born on May 6, 1927 in Midland County, Michigan to Cecil B. and May I. (French) Acker.
Living in LaGrange since 1978, she moved to the area from Angola, IN. She was a homemaker and worked for 9 years at Parkside Elementary as a janitor. Wanda was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in LaGrange, IN.
Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Ann and Edwin Clark of Alma, MI; two sons, Dennis J. Wenzel of LaGrange, IN and Kevin L. Wenzel of Angola, IN; three step-daughters and two step-sons-in-law, Maxine and Bruce Riggs of Merrill, MI, Joan and David McKay of Novi, MI and Joyce Wenzel of Tampa, FL; a step-son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Linda Wenzel of Merrill, MI; twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joanne Badge of Boyne City, MI.
Preceding Wanda in death were her parents; a step-mother, Josephine Acker; a son, David Havelka in 1968; a step-son, Al Wenzel; a grandson, DJ Wenzel; two sisters, Rozella Pasco and Leola Acker; and two brothers, Walter C. Acker and Donald J. Acker.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 797 N. Detroit St., LaGrange, IN with Rev. Justin Smoot officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange, IN.
Visitation will take place on Friday, May 20, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, IN.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church.
