Mentioned in Draper's "King's Mountain and it's Heroes", he fought in the Revolution as a lieutenant. There is some question about the birth date carved on the stone. His wife's grave is unknown. Her name was Ann Long, believed to have been born 23 May 1766 and died 14 Oct 1845.

[We have the xerox of this, and parts of it are totally illegible, and are indicated with dot's. Compare it to the next Bible record below. It would appear that this was the original Bible record, and someone copied the list of James Snodgrass & Ann (Long) Snodgrass's children into David Snodgrass's Bible, which was then copied, and re-copied into a DAR Bible record book. At some point, during one of the copyings, Rebecca's name was left out, and the dates for the next 3 girls were shifted, i.e. Margaret was given Rebecca's birthdate, Martha was given Margaret's, and Sarah/Sallie was given Martha's. This explains why sources claim there were 12 children and other sources claim there were 13. Since this Bible is older, it would appear that there were 13 children, and one was left out in a copying error in the later Bible or a copy of the later Bible. Since it burned, we can't say precisely when the error was made.]
