Glen Lloyd Beckham age 72, faithful husband, loving father of four, caring friend to all and devoted disciple of God, passed away unexpectedly 12:42 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2016 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis surrounded by his family.
Glen was born November 10, 1943 in rural Bonnie, Illinois a son of D.B. and Melva (Gilbert) Beckham. He married Betty Rene (Weasel) on April 9, 1966 in Herald, Illinois and she survives in Mt. Vernon.
Glen served as pastor of several churches some of which include Christ View Christian Church, Benton Christian Church, Belle Rive Christian Church and Donoho Prairie Christian Church. He has been pastor of Mt. Moriah Christian Church in Centralia for the past nine years. He served in the Illinois Army National Guard. He worked for General Radiator in Mt. Vernon for 21 years and Hella Electronics in Flora for 20 years. He was a man of strong Christian faith and loved dearly by his family. He loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's sporting events and activities. He would always try to get someone to smile or cheer up with his sense of humor.
Mr. Beckham is survived by his wife, Betty children, Brent, Greg, Michelle and Chad; thirteen grandchildren, great-granddaughter, and also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services for Glen Beckham will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Pastor Randy Sells and Pastor Howard Kraps officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 141 in Mt. Vernon. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Moriah Christian Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
