TAYLORSVILLE - BARTON, ORA ELIZABETH "IPPIE" ROBERTS, 87, died Sunday, September 12, 2010 in Shelbyville, KY.
Born in Henry County on the September 23, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Ora Lee and Rachael Casey Roberts and the widow of Ira Glenn Barton. Mrs. Barton was a homemaker, a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels and a member of First Baptist Church of Taylorsville. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, quilting and watching Jeopardy. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Barton was preceded in death by her daughter, Joy Rowe; one brother and five sisters.
She is survived by her son, Ira Lee "Tex" Barton (Pat), of Springfield; her daughter, Glenora Pace (William), of Mount Eden; three grandsons, Michael Pace (Tracy) of Taylorsville, Rob Pace of Willisburg and Chris Barton (Ginger) of Lawrenceburg; a granddaughter, Beth Ellen Weakley (Willie) of Willisburg; great-grandsons, Samuel, Jamie and Zachary Pace, all of Smithfield and Nathan Pace of Taylorsville; special neighbors, Shane, Aimee, Lauren and Dawson Barr; close friends of more than 60 years, Earl and Hazel Slucher and Frances Florence, all of Taylorsville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home with Tex Barton and Chris Barton officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memory Gardens in Mount Washington. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hall-Taylor.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society or the WHAS Crusade for Children.
