Boone County Company, Missouri Militia (Cook)∼
27 Aug 2023. Note for Prefix left by Tom O (49142964)
We can remove the prefix of Dr, as James was not a doctor, minister or any other that would require that designation. He was a simple farmer. That likely comes from his middle initials, which were only shown on records prior to 1870, which were James M D Oliver. This was most often written on more official records, i.e. Civil War enlistment, Provost Marshal listings, etc. We know M was for Madison, but the D has never been determined. Thanks much !
