"Heber R. Mason
UTICA --- Word has been received of the death of Heber R. Mason, a former resident of this vicinity. Mr. Mason, aged 76, died at his home, 2824 28th street, Washington, D.C., on Wednesday evening. He had been in poor health for several years.
Born on a farm at 19-Mile and Dequindre roads November 1, 1871, he was the son of the late Richard Mason and Viola Jenney Mason. He attended the Utica school and in 1893 was married to Luna M. Marvin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Marvin of Utica. Mrs Mason died on February 9, 1896, following the birth of their only son, Frank M. Mason, now of 27 Lodewyck avenue, Mount Clemens.
Mr. Mason later married Ada Gregory of Ludington, Mich. He was with the Michigan Bell Telephone Company for 29 years. When he left it in 1919, he was commercial superintendent of the Saginaw division of the company.
He went to Washington, D.C. as a sales manager of the Washington branch of the Buick [sic] and was branch manager for two years before his retirement in 1934. From 1934 until 1945 he was active in the real estate business and had been a salesman for the Rupert Mohler Co. He was a Mason and a Shriner.
Mr. Mason is survived by his wife, two sons, Frank Mason, of Mount Clemens, and Gregory B. Mason, of Chevy Chase, Md.; a daughter, Mrs. U.S. Gray of Washington, and four grandchildren; also a brother, Earl Mason of Ionia, Mich.; and a sister, Mrs. Walter Bishop of Akron, Ohio.
Funeral services were held on Friday with burial in Rock Creek Cemetery, Washington."
