"In Memoriam
--------------
'Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar
When I put out to sea.
'Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell
When I embark;
'For though from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar'
After a long and lingering illness Mrs. Viola L. Mason departed this life at her home in this village Thursday morning, November 2, 1905. All that physicians and the tender ministrations of a devoted daughter could do had been done to alleviate the terrible suffering she had endured for nearly two years. Mrs. Mason had undergone two operations at Harper Hospital, Detroit, which however, afforded relief for only a short time. Through it all she manifested a patience and courage that was truly remarkable and her faith in her Master remained firm to the end.
The funeral was held from the home Saturday afternoon, Nov. 4 at half past one o'clock Rev. J.R. Beach officiating with interment in Utica cemetery.
Mrs. Mason's maiden name was Viola Jenney. She was born in the township of Sterling; Macomb Co., July 23, 1847. She is survived by her aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Almon D. Jenney, of Warren; four brothers, Royal A. of Manistique; Rollin H., of Munising; DeWitt C., of Owosso, Will N. of Mancelona, and her three children, Heber R., of Saginaw, Maona V., of this village, and Earle W. of Manchester, Michigan.
