Marion J. Kredit, 84, Tempe, AZ, formerly of Sioux Center, died Sat. Dec. 7 at Osborne Healthcare Hospital in Scottsdale, AZ.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today Sat. Dec. 14 at Covenant Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center, with the Rev. Gary De Velder officiating. Burial will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center. Oolman Funeral Home in Sioux Center is in charge of arrangements.

Marion Kredit, son of John and Kilda (Vander Tuin) Kredit, was born May 13, 1918 near Harrison, S.D. He married Ann Timmer on Dec. 23, 1940 in New Holland, S.D. They farmed until 1959, when they moved to Florida, where he operated an egg distrubution business.

They moved in 1960 to Iowa, where he became an electrician, owning his own business until 1980, when he retired.

Mrs. Kredit died Aug. 8, 1988 in Sioux Center. He moved to Arizona in 1994. He became a resident of a nursing facility there in 2000.

He enjoyed woodworking, polishing rocks and repairing anything. He had an insatiable appetite for learning and brought stacks of books home from the library. He was known for his wit and humor, but will most be remembered for his faith in God.

Survivors include three children, Carol and Gary De Velder of Chandler, AZ, Jim and Shirley Kredit of Tempe, AZ, and Donna and Harry Boschma of Gold Canyon, AZ; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Veurink of Corsica, S.D. and Sylvia Bruinsma of White Lake, S.D.; and three brothers, Herman Kredit of Phoenix AZ, Lloyd Kredit of Phoenix, and Cliff Kredit of Marysville, WA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Kredit; an infant brother, Herman; and a sister, Josephine.
