Ruth Lina Gannett Taylor Norton Rose, 96, of Liverpool, formerly of Mexico, died Thursday. She was an elementary teacher in various area schools and was one of the 1st members of the MACS Hall of Fame. Surviving: One daughter, Kathleen Detor, Mexico; one son, David (Linda) Norton, Athens, PA; 10 grandchildren, Theresa (Samp) Tatum, Sr., Lawton, OK, Douglas (JoAnn) Detor, Palm Bay, FL, Donna (Tony) Vesta, Mexico, Darrell Detor, Orlando, FL, Duane Detor, Mexico, NY, Matthew Norton, Athens, PA, Aaron Norton, Athens, PA, LeAnn Brown, Robert Taylor and Mark Taylor, all of Birmingham, Alabama. Funeral Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Harter Funeral Home, 9 Washington Ave., Mexico, NY. Burial will be in Mexico Village Cemetery. Calling hours will be 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
