Vivian Edith Barbee was born in Savannah, Georgia on Dec 9, 1920 to Charles Allen Barbee and Laura Jane Johnson Barbee.
She was the third child of nine born to her parents.
Vivian lived in Savannah most of her life, and was a graduate of Commercial High School, Class of 1939.

At age 21, Vivian married George DeArmond from Louisiana. He was a gunnery sergeant with the US Army and was killed in action a couple months after their marriage. Later in 1942, she married Raymond James Bedgood. They had one daughter (Cecile) together in 1950 and were married 44 years before RJ's death in 1986.

Vivian had a 45 year career as a bookkeeper and payroll clerk with the Oldsmobile dealership in Savannah. Thirty eight of those years were with Fuller Oldsmobile. She retired in 1999 at age 79. She was a lifetime member of Calvary Baptist Temple in Savannah for over 80 years and was also a member of the American Business Women’s Association for over 40 years.

Vivian led a full and purposeful life until her diagnoses of Alzheimer's at age 85. She died peacefully at age 95 in Greenville, SC with her daughter.

My mother was a strong, yet gentle and independent woman who was also intelligent and principled, and at times was known to give voice to her opinion, whether requested or not. She was the epitome of a southern lady, and she loved all her families...blood, church and work.
