Raymond James Bedgood was the son of Edna Thelma Turner and Bycelle Daniel Bedgood. He grew up around Toombs and Chatham Counties in Georgia.

He was an intelligent, talented man with an engaging personality. As a lad, he attended Benedictine Military Academy, and later went to Georgia Tech for Engineering. He was a civil engineer and had a hand in many road and bridge projects across the country. His special interest was the automobile business and he dabbled in it for decades. He had the first "rent a car" business in Savannah in the 1950's.

Raymond was married 3 times with six children before he met and married my mother, Vivian Barbee Bedgood in 1942. They were married 44 years before his death in 1986.
