He was born on February 25, 1931 in Brandywine, the son of the late Byron (3-27-1975) and Fannie Catherine (Hartman) Bodkin (7-19-1992).
On June 16, 1951, Billy married Lucy Ellen Sewell Bodkin, who survives in Brandywine.
Mr. Bodkin was a graduate of Franklin High School and Blue Ridge Community College, and he was a member of the Brandywine First Baptist Church.
Billy had worked for 20 years at Virginia Power and was a US Mail Carrier for 10 years.
He was a Veteran of the US Air Force where he served 25 1/2 years.
In addition to his wife, Billy is survived by: a daughter-in-law, Angie Bodkin; a sister, Juanita Cowger and husband Harold of Baltimore, MD; 2 brothers, Roy A. "Mickey" Bodkin and wife Liz, Bobby G. Bodkin and wife Pat, all of Brandywine; a granddaughter, Rhiannon; and a step grandchild, Morgan Hatch.
He was preceded in death by: a son, Mark Sheldon Bodkin; a granddaughter Anastine; a brother, Marlin; and 2 sisters, Elva and Erma.
Mr. Bodkin's family will receive friends on Saturday, April 30, 2016, Noon until 1:00 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin.
Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike McCauley officiating.
Interment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Brandywine with Military Honors conducted by The Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to the Brandywine First Baptist Church or South Fork Volunteer Fire Department.
