OBITUARY NOTICE:

At a regular communication of Kirkville Lodge No. 35, of Free and Accepted Masonic, held at their Hall on Tuesday evening, September 5th, 1853 [1854], the following resolutions were unanimously adopted:

WHEREAS BY a visitation of Divine Providence, our worthy and beloved brother, MARSHALL B. LEE, has been removed from the Lodge on earth the Grand Lodge above, therefore.

RESOLVED. That while we deeply deplore our loss, we cherish with heartfelt satisfaction the recollection of his manly virtues, his inflexible friendship, his ardent attachment to our order, and his active charities and social qualities.

RESOLVED. That the widow and family of our deceased brother, thus thrown open the world, benefit of a kind and affectionate husband and father, are entitled to our warmest sympathy as Masons; and may "He who tempers the wind to the shorn lamb," endow them with "That soul's calm, sunshine--That nothing earthly gives, or can destroy."

RESOLVED. That the members of this Lodge will wear, for the space of thirty days, the usual badge of Masonic mourning and that the furniture and jewels of the Lodge be clothed in mourning for the same space of time, as a testimonial of our respect for the memory of our departed Brother.

RESOLVED. That the foregoing resolutions be entered on the journals of this Lodge; that the Secretary furnish a copy of the same to the widow of our deceased Brother, and that the same be published in the Des Moines Courier.
