PRINCETON - L. Clyde Caldwell, 88, of 816 Highland Ave., Princeton, died Tuesday at a Princeton hospital. Born in Bluefield, Va., he was a son of the late J.L. and Vira Farley Caldwell. He was a retired building inspector for the City of Princeton. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Princeton and was an architectural engineer having graduated from the Chicago Technical Institute. He was a former building contractor who with his father operated the Caldwell & Caldwell Construction Company in the Princeton area. He was a former member of the Princeton Masonic Lodge 134 A.F. & A.M. and the Beni Kedem Shrine Temple. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and had been a resident of Princeton since 1909 moving from Bluefield, Va. Survivors: wife, Wilma Hazlett Caldwell; nieces, Mrs. Bill (Barbara) Sheppard and Mrs. Russell (Karen) Hash.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the George W. Seaver Funeral Home Chapel in Princeton with the Rev. Clifford Schell officiating. Burial will be at the Resthaven Park Cemetery in Princeton. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Family requests contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church, 100 Center St., Princeton, WV 24740.
