Leona Rusmiselle Baber went to be with the Lord on April 16, 2016 at Birch Gardens Assisted Living. She was born January 28, 1931 in Stuart Draft, Virginia to the late John and Georgia Rusmiselle. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Austin Baber.
Survivors include a son, Anthony "Tony" Austin Baber and friend, Joey Fahrney; daughter, Deborah Massie and her husband, Gary; step-granddaughter, Amy Massie Wood and her husband, Kevin; step-great granddaughter, Lauren Wood; and a special friend, Yvonne Turner. She also leaves a very special friend, Author Paxton of Grottoes who brought her much joy and friendship for 23 years.
The family would like to thank the staff of Birch Gardens for their excellent care and devotion.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Augusta Memorial Park with Pastor Richard Owen officiating. Family and friends may meet at the cemetery by 1:45 P.M. on the day of the service. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. Friends may pay their respects and sign the register book from 1:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the funeral home.
