Edith 'Edie' W. Roe, age 90, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior from the Montello Care Center on Saturday morning, August 4, 2012.

Edie was born in rural Lexington, SC to Jasper and Lottie (Rawl) Boles on February 7, 1922. While attending nursing school, she met Robert Roe in Spartenburg, SC and August 14, 1943 they married. Together they lived most of their lives in Pewaukee, WI and retired to Montello in 1980.

Edie worked for the Waukesha County Institutions as a nurse from 1955 until moving to Montello in 1980 and continued to care for others while she worked for the Montello Care Center and other nursing homes.

Edie was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary of Post 351 in Montello, Marquette County Historical Society, Packy-Wacky Red Hatters and the Montello Women's Club. One group that Edie held close to her heart was 'The Gold Star Mother's', which she was a member of. She volunteered countless hours at the Wisconsin Veteran's Home in King, WI. Edie loved her family very much and immensely enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Edie is survived by three children: Robert (Nancy) of Broken Arrow, OK, Edith 'Sis' Roe of Green Lake and Reginald (Claudia) of Oconomowoc as well as ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Linda Dunaway of Laurens, SC as well as special friends: Nola Grace Campbell and Beth Turner. Edie is further survived by nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Edie is preceded in death by her parents, husband and four sons: Ronald, Roger, Royce and Rodney.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Montello. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home and also on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Marvin Rowe will officiate and following the traditional service Edie will cremated. Private family inurnment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery, Pewaukee, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Budda-Box Fight Against Cancer, P.O. Box 91, Westfield, WI 53964 or Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 460, Montello, WI 53949.
