There is a question as to where Thirzzie was actually born, some have in in Tennessee and others have it in Texas. Her death certificate says she was born in Johnson Co., Tx, but some census's show her as being born in Tn.
It is believed that Newton with his wife Mary Ann and their children came to Texas in 1860. With them came Newton's brother ,Silas R., and Mary Ann's brother (unknown which). They first came to Red River Co., then later moved to Johnson Co. If they did in fact come to Tx in 1860, being that Thirzzie was born in 1865 it is very possible that she was born there. Her siblings before her were all born prior to 1860, so they would have been born in Tn.
It is further believed that Newton's wife Mary Ann, their daughter Exmander and Silas R. all died in Johnson Co, Tx. (My other information has Mary Ann as dieing in 1969 in Weakley Co. Tn).
Newton, Thirzzie and Amanda (daughter of Silas R.) returned to Weakley Co. Tn and Newton married again to Sarah Patterson in Sept. 1869. The 1870 Weakley Co. census shows Thizzie and Amanda living with Newton and his new wife Sarah.
Another note of interest, with Sarah Patterson's marriage to Newton, she became Thirzzie's step-mother. Sarah was also an aunt to Jonathan Kilgore Fowler who Thirzzie married. So, Sarah Patterson was an aunt to Jonathan and also his step-mother in law. Sarah, in addition to being Thirzzie's step-morther also became Thirzzie's aunt by marriage.
There is another Fowler/Thornton connection. Joshua Thornton was a great grandfather of Thirzzie. He married Sarah "Sally" Fowler who was a great grand aunt to Jonathan Kilgore Fowler. This also makes Joshua Thornton a great grandfather-in-law to Jonathan Kilgore.
