~OUR FAMILIES ANCESTRAL ROOTS~
Name changed from Graff to Grove.
He and his wife had a total of nine children.
Revolutionary War Patriot, served in Maryland. Carried the title as "Major" until death. He commanded the barracks in Frederick guarding prisoners, and during the Revolutionary War, commanded the barracks while the Hessian troops were held prisoner. After the war attended to his farm land in Middletown.
Is said he gave the property in which the old Reformed Church and Cemetery now rests. Was part of the land he had once owned. Also contributed largely towards the construction of the church. He and his wife were one of the first to be buried there in the cemetery grounds.
Purchased his plaque in 2001 as the stone is hard to read (although the plaque is now missing -Jan. 07')
