Josephine Elizabeth McNabb Smeltzer, 95, of Lower Burrell, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 24, 2016, in Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Natrona Heights. Born Oct. 3, 1920, in Five Points Township, Armstrong County, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Hannah Chappelle Wilhelm. She had worked at the former Ritz clothing dress shop in Natrona Heights for many years and also for the previous Ideal Cleaners in Lower Burrell. She was a previous member of the Lower Burrell Community Club. Josephine loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John McNabb; infant son, John McNabb Jr.; daughters, Gloria Jean McNabb and Judith Ann Brubaker; second husband, Kenneth Israel Smeltzer; third husband, Kenneth Austin Smeltzer; and siblings, Elmer and Harry Wilhelm, Anna May Smeltzer, Luella Jenkins, Dorothy Rearick and Edith Smail. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Dennis) Crissman; son-in-law, Jim Brubaker; four grandchildren, Randy (Jessica) Brubaker, Robert (Sandy) Brubaker, Toni Lynn Montemurro and Jodi Lynn (Doug) King; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Shane, Matthew, Sydney, Spencer, Hayli and Abigail; and great-great-grandchildren, Camryn and Owen.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016, in the Joseph J. Cardaro Funeral Home, New Kensington. Additional visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, in the funeral home with the Rev. Greg Blythe officiating. Private burial will be in Brookland Cemetery, Allegheny Township.
