Lawrence Dutcher, 84, Dayton, died Friday at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the McGuire Bend United Bretheran Church, Dayton, with the Rev. Dale Kelley officiating. Burial will be in the McGuire Bend Cemetery, Dayton. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Carson Funeral Home, Dayton.
Survivors include his wife Catherine; sons Donald, Battle Creek, Kenneth, Ogden, and Leonard, Dayton; daughters Lucille Hagge, Dayton, Doris Rentschler, Mt. Prospect, Ill., Mary Knight, Boone, Lois Michehl, Eagle Grove, Joyce Holsapple, Butte, Mont., DaVonne Berns, Dayton, and Barbara Sandholm, Dayton; 25 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.
Dutcher was born in rural Dayton in 1904 and was educated in Yell Township. He married Catherine Ball in 1927 and they farmed in Yell Township until retiring in 1966. He was a baseball pitcher for the Lehigh town team and also pitched in the minor leagues in Texas.
