John Bonges, 100, dies;
ex-Hennepin supervisor

HENNEPIN--Former Hennepin Township Supervisor, John E. Bonges, 100, died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Nursing Home, Lacon, where he had lived for 12 years.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Dysart Funeral Chapel, Granville, and 10:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Hennepin. The Rev. John Kwak will officiate. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dysart Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 8 p.m.

Mr. Bonges was born Oct. 20, 1881, in Hennepin to August and Margaret McEvany Bonges. He married Nellie Cahill who died in 1961. He was a retired farmer from the Hennepin area.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and was a charter member of the Marshall-Putnam Farm Bureau.

He was a grain dealer, former Hennepin Township Supervisor, was a member of the Hennepin High School Board of Education, former director of the Putnam County Bank and was trustee of St. Anthony's Cemetery.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Manning of Ladd and Mrs. John (Kathryn) Reutske of Chicago; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services for John E. Bonges, 100, of Hennepin were Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Dysart Funeral Chapel, Granville, and 10:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church in Hennepin. The Rev. John Kwak was was celebrant and the Rev. William Kirk, OSB, of St. Benedict's church in Ladd was concelebrant. Burial was in St. Anthony's Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Martin Manning, Walter Clements, James Mini, John Mini, John Jacoby, and Steven Reutcke.
