Born on August 30, 1927 in Marrowbone, KY to Hebron and Mary Mosby Garmon, she married Glen O. Benway on July 9, 1948 in Sibley, IL. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2002 in Peoria, IL.
Surviving are 2 sons; Gary Benway of Washington, IL, and Randy (Lora) Benway of Horicon, WI, 2 sisters; Judy (Dick) Stump of Rossville, IL and Sandy (Don) Wilson of Bismarck, IL, 5 grandchildren; Brian (Natalie) Benway, Joel (Katy) Benway, Scott Benway, Ellen Benway, and Timothy Benway.
Ruby was preceded in death by 8 siblings; Nina Flessner, Dorothy Perkins, Virginia O’Conner, Geneva Dancy, Shelby Aquino, Ray Garmon, Donald Garmon, and Ronald Garmon.
In her early years, Ruby worked at State Farm Insurance in Bloomington, IL, and later worked at Summer and Associates Insurance, Washington Oil, and Mary Rachel Antiques, all in Washington.
She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Washington and loved spending time with her family.
A memorial service will be at 11 am Friday, March 18, 2016 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Pastor John N. Bates will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 am Friday until the time of the service. Inurnment will follow the memorial service at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
