1885 – CENSUS. 1885 Iowa State Census. Peter Bornsen Family. Meadow Township of Plymouth County – familysearch.org
1. Name: Peter Bornsen, Event Place: Meadow, Plymouth, Iowa, Gender: Male, Age: 26, Estimated Birth Year: 1859
2. Name: Christine Bornsen, Event Place: Meadow, Plymouth, Iowa, Gender: Female, Age: 25, Estimated Birth Year: 1860

1884-1885 Checked the death records at the Plymouth County Courthouse. Nothing listed for a Peter Bornson. This time period was before either Lutheran Church was keeping records and before the Remsen newspaper was in existence.

1887 – LOT SALES. "Peter Bornsen" received the deed for Lot 10 in Block 1 West on September 21, 1887. Usually the deaths occurred earlier than the purchase. In the history of the cemetery, it seems that plots that were purchased between 1883 and 1887 were handwritten in a smaller booklet – which is lost. Starting in May of 1887, official deeds were made out (many may have been re-dos from earlier years).

After the Bornsen's moved away, two plots in the SE corner of the Bornsen lot were sold to George and Minnie Bottjen. The Bottjen gravestone is in the photo. Source – Page 36 of the Old Lot Sales Book – Remsen Cemetery Association.
By 1900, Peter and Christina are living in Osceola County. They are buried in May City, Osceola County, Iowa.
