Mary Simmons was born 21 Jun 1812 in Litchfield County, according to the Dennison-Grannis Bible at the Litchfield Historical Society. The bible was found in the Dennison House, Prospect Mountain Rd., Headquarters, Milton, Litchfield, Connecticut.

She was the daughter of Job Simmons and Arseneth Dennison. This 1812 birth year is consistent with the 1820 Census with a female under 10 in the Job Simmons household, the only Simmons in the Town of Litchfield in that census.

Miss Mary Simons married Leyming [Leaming Hawkins] Bradley on 19 Sep 1830, the Sabbath, in Litchfield, according to Town of Litchfield Vital Records. They were both of Litchfield. The Barbour Collection mistranscribed his first name as Seyming.

By the 1840 Census, Leaming and Mary were in Washington Township, Litchfield County, with two young males, apparently sons Galusha and Sherman. Mary is recorded as a female under 30.

The family moved to Buffalo, New York, by 1853 when Learning [Leaming] H Bradley, foreman, pail factory, home corner Hamilton and East, is in the 1853 Buffalo directory, page 137. Leaming and Mary kept a boarding house as the 1853 directory shows Wm. Teal, machinist; Michael Donnelly, painter, & Smith Stocker, pail maker, boarding with L.H. Bradley. Leaming often went by his initials.

The Bradley family moved to Chicago, Illinois, in 1854 where Mary died on 18 Jul 1854. On 14 Sep 1854, the Litchfield Republican newspaper carried this mortuary notice: "In Chicago, Ill., July 18th, Mary, wife of Leaming H Bradley, and daughter of Job Simmons of Milton."

Mary's burial place is unknown.
