Town of Litchfield Vital Records show that Leyming Bradley married Miss Mary Simons, both of Litchfield, on the Sabbath, on 19 Sep 1830 in Litchfield. By the 1840 Census, Leaming and Mary were in Washington Township, Litchfield County, apparently with sons Galusha and Sherman.
The family moved west to Buffalo, New York, in 1853 and Chicago, Illinois, in 1854. There Mary died on 18 Jul 1854. On 14 Sep 1854, the Litchfield Republican newspaper carried this mortuary notice: "In Chicago, Ill., July 18th, Mary, wife of Leaming H Bradley, and daughter of Job Simmons of Milton."
Leaming remarried 15 May 1855 in Cook County, Illinois, to Sabra Lewis as reported in a Chicago newspaper, the Fink Index and the Lewisiana newsletter. They had two daughters who died as infants and a son Galusha Lewis Bradley, born in 1861 either in Illinois or Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
About 1861, Leaming moved to Milwaukee to join son Sherman Abernethy Bradley who was married and working as a mechanic. Both went into the pump manufacturing business, the pumps made of wood. Leaming is in Milwaukee city directories until 1871 when he again is listed as a pumpmaker.
Leaming died 22 Dec 1871 in Milwaukee according to Lewisiana, or, The Lewis letter, Volumes 16-17, page 68. While his name is listed there as Lanning H. Bradley, this is actually Leaming H. Bradley, husband of Sabra Lewis Bradley. His first name was often misspelled.
His Bradley lineage goes back to Stephen Bradley (1642-1702) who came to New Haven, Connecticut, about 1645 from Bingley, Yorkshire, England. This Bradley line in America is Stephen, Abraham, Abraham, Leaming, Aaron (a Revolutionary War veteran), Horace, then Leaming Hawkins Bradley.
His burial place is unknown, but was most likely somewhere in Milwaukee County.
