BRAND, ROY F., age 88, of Maitland, ended his journey of life Wednesday, September 27, 2006. He was born to Herman and Catherine Brand on April 4, 1918 in Smithfield, NE. He lived in Smithfield, Loomis and Holdrege, NE for 56 years. Roy honorably served his country during WWII as a Tech Sgt. in the USAF behind enemy lines in France. Roy moved to Newberry, FL where he lived for fourteen years. He then moved to Columbia, SC for another fourteen years. He spent the last two years of his life in Maitland. Roy enjoyed serving as an elder in the Church of Christ in Holdrege, NE and he walked with God until he went to heaven. He was the devoted husband of Eula Brand. Together they lovingly raised their four children. Roy is survived by his wife, Eula; his two sons, Kent Brand of Florence, AL and Terry Brand of Columbia, SC; his two daughters, Buena Wheless of Durham, NC and Cathie Brand, of Maitland, FL; his brother Delmer Brand of Bertrand, NE; his three sisters, Esther Hall of Bertrand, NE, Ethel Ebmeier, also of Bertrand, NE and Fern Wells of Scottsbluff, NE; twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers contributions are made in Roy's memory to the Roy Brand Memorial Fund, York College, 1125 East 8th Street, York, NE 68467. A Service of Remembrance is at 1PM on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at the Carey Hand Cox-Parker Funeral Home Chapel, with his son Kent Brand officiating. Further celebration of Roy's life will take place in Columbia, SC at a later date. Interment will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
