Obituary for Mae A. Flenniken

Mae A. Glatfleter Flenniken of York died unexpectedly at 12:20 p.m. yesterday at York Hospital following a brief illness. She was 63.

Mrs. Flenniken was office manager for S & N Katz Jewelers, West Manchester Mall. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Jacobus where she taught the pre-school Sunday school class for 30 years and served on the Christian education committee.

She was born in York, a daughter of the late Oscar J. and Annie M. Hoffman Glatfelter.

She leaves her husband, John S. Flenniken; a son, Todd S. Flenniken, Hanover; a daughter, Karen S. Concino, York; a brother, Paul O. Glatfelter, Glen Rock; and four sisters, Florence Leader and Ethel Smith, both of Jacobus, Gladys Hess, York, and Verna Gable, Dallastown.

Viewing is scheduled for 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Salem Lutheran Church, Jacobus. The service is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the church, with her pastor, The Rev. Goerge Knarr, officiating. Burial is to be in the church cemetery.

Heffner Funeral Home of Jacobus Inc., 53 N. Main St., Jacobus, is in charge of arrangements.


Mae Arlene's funeral service was held at Salem Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 8, 1990 with the Rev. George R. Knarr officiating. Interment was at Salem Union Cemetery, Jacobus. Pallbearers were Dean Gable, Al Royer, Donald Ware, Perry Glatfelter, Dale Smith and Dallas Smith.
