John Crockett Brown, 87, passed away Saturday, March 05, 2016 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Iowa Park with Rev. Glen Pearce, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will follow at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park.
John was born August 16, 1928 in Munday, Texas to Crockett Hall Brown and Luzerna Alice (Caldwell) Brown. He graduated from Munday High School in 1947. He was a veteran of the Army where he served from 1950-1952. John married the love of his life, Ina Mae Jones on January 23, 1954 in Munday. He served the State of Texas as a State Trooper for the Texas Department of Public Safety beginning his service in Wichita Falls in 1958, making the rank of Lieutenant in 1985, and retiring in Waco in 1988. John was ordained as a Deacon in 1986 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Iowa Park where he taught Sunday school and traveled with church members to build churches in other states. He was a sharpshooter who spent much of his time teaching gun safety classes and enjoyed fishing during his spare time. John is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ina Mae Brown; brothers, Frank, Bill, and Gene Brown; and sisters, Louise Hamilton, Lena Owen, and Helen Clemmer.
Surviving relatives include his son, Randy Brown and his wife, Amy of Iowa Park; daughter, Susan and her husband, Lowery Bartow of Robinson, Texas; son, Scott and his wife, Kathy Brown of The Colony, Texas; grandchildren, Chasity, Randy, Matthew, John, and Ashley; and great grandchildren, Braxten and Brynlee.
