Mabel Fell Davis.
Mabel Evanette Fell, oldest daughter of Robert and Margaret Fell, was born near Toulon, Illinois, March 5, 1871. Here her young days were spent and she resided in this community until she grew into beautiful womanhood. At the age of 14 years she united with the Congregational church and was a member of that church at the time of her death.
She graduated from the Toulon High school with the class of 1890.
March 4, 1895, she was married to O. W. Davis, and went with him to a farm near Remsen, Iowa, which was her home with the exception of two years at Toulon, Ill., and one year at Le Mars, Iowa, until the time of her death. To this union were born two sons, David Julian Davis and Ashton Cecil Davis.
For some time past Mrs. Davis has been in poor health. She died at her home seven miles south of Remsen at 10:40 o'clock p.m. June 21, 1910, leaving to mourn her loss her husband, two sons, her father and mother, five sisters and one brother, and many relatives and friends.
She was laid to rest in the cemetery at Marcus, Iowa, Friday, June 24.
Her death will be mourned by all who had more than a passing acquaintance with her. At school she was known as a diligent student of more than ordinary ability, and in all the work she took up she was careful, painstaking and conscientious. Here was a life of usefulness and her memory will be a precious heritage to her children.
