Oscar Johns, 63, of 885 Suflower Road, Rochester, Beaver County, died at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 1985 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Butler. He was born June 3, 1922 in Templeton, the son of the late Arnold and Emma (Miller) John. He was a coke furnace heater employed by J&L Steel, Aliquippa. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Rochester, and president of the Circle 8 C.B. Club of the Beaver Valley. Survivors include his wife Martha (Hill) John; one daughter, Vilna John of Ellwood City; two sisters, Mrs. Owen (Lucy) Bowser of Kittanning and Mrs. Blaine (Helen) Kaufman of Apollo; two step-sons, Robert Edwards of Monaca and Joel Edwards at home; three step daughters, Mrs. Harold (Linda) Sproul of Aliquippa, Mrs. John (Paula) Etzel of Mansfield, OH and Bobette Geringer of Brentwood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura John in 1972; one sister, Viola Shindledecker, and one infant brother. Funeral Services will be held at the Kennedy Funeral Home, Kittanning, at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 1985 with the Rev. Thomas L. Shields, his pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the Cochran Cemetery.
