Lakeland, Fl. - Ms. Evelyn Bates Waters, of Lakeland, died of colon cancer Saturday (Sept. 16, 2006) at Palm Terrace of Lakeland. She was 87.
Born June 5, 1919, in Lakeland, Ms. Waters returned to this area from Atlanta 33 years ago.
She worked as a convenience store manager.
She attended Calvary Baptist Church.
Ms. Waters is survived by her sisters, Mildred Dorsey and Louise Olender, both of Lakeland; brothers, William "Bill" Bates, Jackson, Ga., Cleve Bates, Lakeland.
* Parents: Father, Harvey Bates (b. abt. 1893, in Fl.) and Mother, Alice Bates, (b. abt. 1894).
* Possibly Siblings: Buster, John, Andrew, Louise, Mildred, William C., and Cleve.
* Sister: Mildred Bates Dorsey
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Countryside Funeral Chapel, Lakeland.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Socrum Cemetery.
