Harry C. Adams of Crown Point, Ind., a former resident of Star City, died at a hospital in Tampa, Fla., he had been there on an indefinite visit. He was eighty-two years of age. Born in Bunker Hill, Miami co. Ind. on April 8, 1872. His first marriage was to Olive Boyer who died in 1897, leaving an infant son named Cassius Elmer Adams. Harry then married in May of 1897 to Bertha Robertson in Miami Co., Ind. Bertha died in September 1950. Harry and Bertha had three sons; Elston and Carmon of Crown Point, Ind, and Melbourne of Milwaukee, Wisc. Also three daughters Mrs. Halene Barndonner of Michigan City, Mrs. Carene Rill and Mrs. Murial Ackley of Ashland, Wisc. Carmon and Corenne were twins born in Star City as were Halene and Muriel. A daughter Lillie V. Adams died in Star City in 1918 of the influenza epidemic as did a son Vanlin in 1905. Melbourne was born after the family left Star City for Gary, Ind. The son by Harry’s first wife Olive was raised by Harry’s mother, Sarah Greathouse-Adams-Spurgeon. Harry, along with his wife Bertha, mother Sarah, son and daughter Vanlin and Halene and grandchild, (Bardonner) are buried in the Star City cemetery.
