Stephen Harris Harrington, II was the co-founder (along with Rockwell King) of the Harrington and King Perforating Company in Chicago, Illinois. This company is still in existence today (as of 2016).

Stephen was born in Nova Scotia, Canada, the oldest son of Stephen Harris Harrington, I and Mary E. Whidden.

Stephen's grave marker states he passed away on December 13, 1913, however, newspaper records state he died on December 20, 1913. His cause of death was peritonitis.

Stephen was survived by his fourth wife, Georgina Bayard Richey Harrington, and their son, Stephen Harris Harrington, III. None of Stephen's obituaries mentioned his wife and son. Nor did any of Stephen's obituaries mention his children from his first and second marriages. He had four children with his first wife, Sarah Adele Salisbury. They were Grace, Athalie, Mabel and William. Stephen had three children with his second wife, Kate Van Tuyl. They were Ruby, Van Tuyl and Hazel. Stephen and his third wife, Elizabeth Hutchinson (a widow), did not have any children together.

"Harrington, Stephen Harris, manufacturer of perforated metals; b. Halifax, N. S., Nov. 7, 1846; s. Stephen H. and Mary E. (Whidden) Harrington, both then of New York City, who were visiting their native province at the time of his birth; ed. Wolfville Acad., Wolfville, N. S., and Madison Univ., Hamilton, N. Y. Served during Civil War as capt.'s clerk in U. S. N.; was clerk J. H. Reed & Co., wholesale druggists, Chicago, 1865-6; clerk on boats of the Green Bay Transportation Co., belonging to the C. & N.-W. R. R. Co., 1867-8; in supt.'s office of Bay de Noquit and Marquette, and Marquette & Ontonagon R. R. Co.'s, Marquette, Lake Superior, 1868-9; in winter of 1869-70 started in the perforated metal mfg. business in Chicago. In 1882 became associated with Rockwell King in same line, incorporating the business, 1883, as the Harrington & King Perforating Co., of which he is pres.; products of the company now shipped to all parts of the world. Republican. Presbyterian. Clubs: Chicago Athletic, Highland Park. Office: 226 N. Union St. Residence: Highland Park, Ill."
