Mrs. Amanda Jane Charles, widow of John Charles, died at the home of her son Walter, 38 Duqesne way, Lewistown, Friday evening at 4:10 o'clock of a complication of diseases. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Catherine Kinard Gohn.
Services will be held at the home of her son Monday evening at 7:30 o'clock and at Boehm's M E church on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. {unknown newspaper obit}

Funeral services for Mrs. Amanda Jane Charles, widow of John Charles, were conducted at the home of Elmer Charles, 38 Duquesne Way, Monday evening at 7:30 in charge of the Rev. Utts. Mrs. George Nein and Mrs. Harold Schilling sang, "I Come to the Garden Alone" and "God Be With You Till We Meet Again." The funeral party in charge of Ralph Barchus left Tuesday morning at 10:30 for Willow Street, Lancaster County, where services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. in Boehms Methodist Church in charge of the pastor. Rev. George L Schaffex. Burial was made in the Charles family plot beside her husband, John Charles who died in 1921. The casket carriers were: Andrew Burke, H. C. Bair, William Charles, A. C. Eshemean and Christian Brenneman all nephews of Mrs. Charles. In addition to the survivors mentioned previously she leaves 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The funeral cortege was comprised of the following; Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Charles and family, Walter Charles, Mrs. Frances Burke, Rosemary Burke, Mrs. Mary E. Barnham and son, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Charles and family, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Charles, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Charles, Mrs. Helen Case, John Schmidt, Alma Snook, Mae Howe, Vesta Charles, Mrs. Kline, Mrs. Moor. {unknown newspaper obit}
