Morton County Pioneer Dies in M.C. Hospital

Ira Leonard Milburn, 86, died Monday at the Morton County Hospital in Elkhart after several months of failing health. Milburn had been a resident of the Rolla and Dermont communities since 1887. Born April 25, 1878 in Chautiuqua County, he came to Southwest Kansas at the age of nine. Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Rolla Methodist Church with Rev. Carl Carrier in charge. Burial was in the Rolla Cemetery. Survivors include the widow, Dottie; sons, James H. and Ira Leo both of Los Angeles, California; Roy H., Arriba, Colorado; Vernon and Wayne, both of Rolla; Leonard of Canadian, Texas; Donald of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; daughters, Mrs. Fannie Pearce of Farden City; Mrs. Maude Malone, Big Bow, Colorado; Mrs. Mary Barber, Waterloo, Iowa; Mrs. Pearl Reynolds, Atlanta, Georgia; Mrs. Letha Greene, Manter; Mrs. Leola Thompson, Rifle, Colorado; Mrs. Phyllis Forbes, Elkhart; brothers, Archie of Hugoton; Pete of Rola; sisters, Mrs. Maude Simmons of Lamar, Colorado; Mrs. Kate Pearce of Johnson, Mrs. Gladys Youngren of Hugoton; 117 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
