Mr. Hosea Milburn passed away April 17 after a long illness and was buried Sunday in the Dermot cemetery by the side of his wife. Grandpa Milburn as he was called by all who new him was one of Morton County's old settlers.

Notes from the 7/5/2003 family reunion in Dermot Community Center, Dermot, Kansas says that Hosea came to Northeast Morton County, Kansas near the town of Dermot in Stevens County in 1885 from Chautauqua County. In 1886, Hosea brought his wife Emma Jane and six of their children. Born in Chautauqua County were: Ira, Viola, Ida, Pete, Logan, Maude to Morton County. The oxen yoke was used by Hosea to bring his family west is located in the Stevens County Museum. According to the life story, it took 30 days on the road. Other children born to the family in Morton County were Sam, Louis, Virgil, Kate, Arch, Gladys and Marjorie.
During the afternoon several of the guests made a side trip to the Dermot Cemetery in Stevens County and also to see the home place of Ira Milburn. It was an education trip of lineage for many of the attendees.
