MUNCIE - Richard L. "Dick" Doggett, 79, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Liberty Village after an extended illness.

He was born October 17, 1936 in Muncie, the son of Samuel C. and Louise (Epperson) Doggett.

He attended Muncie Central High School, leaving his senior year to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1959. On January 19, 1960 in Muncie, he married his high school sweetheart, Kay Tracy.

Dick worked for Marsh Warehouse in Yorktown for forty years until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of the Moose and the Teamsters Union, local #135. Dick enjoyed playing pool, fishing and loved to play cards.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Kay Doggett of Muncie; one son, Rick Doggett (wife, Karen) of Muncie; two daughters, Debbie Cronin (husband, Mark) of Washington, PA and Julie Fairchild (husband, Troy) of Muncie; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Howard Doggett and Marvin Doggett; and two sisters, Eleanor Kennedy and Wilma Frasier.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2016 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Pastor James O. McCowan officiating.

Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Veterans of Delaware County.

Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel or one hour prior to services on Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association or the American Kidney Foundation.
