Roberta May Walker, daughter of Jesse Robert and Lulu Mary Wolf Patterson, was born October 17, 1938 in the Sherman Community in Major County, Oklahoma. She departed this life early Monday, May 26, 2003 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was 64 years of age, 7 months and 9 days.
Roberta began her elementary school years at Pleasant Valley School and she graduated from Cheyenne Valley High School with the class of 1955. She was united in marriage to Donald Lee Walker, March 14, 1959 at the Davis Park Christian Church in Enid, Oklahoma. They made their first home in Waynoka, Oklahoma and in 1962, they moved to Cedardale, Oklahoma. In 1966, they moved to Chester, Oklahoma where they have continued to make their home. She worked in the dietary department at the Seiling Municipal Hostital and the Seiling Nursing Center prior to going to work in the Seiling School cafeteria where she worked 14 years, retiring in 1989. Mostly, Roberta enjoyed working with Donald on the farm and with their cattle operation. She was a devoted wife, sister and friend. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Seiling where she taught the elementary age Sunday School class for 35 years. She also enjoyed watching birds and doing craft work with beads, making many different items and giving them as gifts.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Walker of Chester; 6 sisters: Edra Shuck of Yukon, Frances May and husband Bill of Edmond, Bessie McDowell and husband Kenneth of Winner, South Dakota, Fay Bouse of Harrah, Leola Edwards and husband John of Fairview and Janice Peters and husband Bill of Enid; 1 brother: Robert Patterson and wife Sue of Enid; her mother-in-law: Gladys Riley of Waynoka and she is also survived by several nices, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Her infant daughter, her parents and an infant brother preceded her in death.
