Tom Carter, 68, a longtime resident of the Bt. Prairie area, died of a heart attack at his home southeast of that community.
He was a brother of Mrs. Effie Stanley and uncle of Carson Stanley here.
He was born in Wayne County August 14, 1887, the son of John and Amanda Carter.
He was married in 1907 to Nellie Moore.
Mr. Carter, except for a number of years spent in the southwest, lived in the Bt. Prairie vicinity, where he engaged in farming. He was active in the affairs of the East Antioch church.
Surviving are his widow; six children, Harold Carter, Elsie Cummins, Mildred Piper, Pauline Adkerman, Esther Harris; a daughter, Deloris, at home, and one sister, Mrs. Effie Stanley.
Funeral services were held at the East Antioch church with burial in the East Antioch cemetery.
