Elsie I. Cummins, 92, of Phoenix, passed away on June 21, 2006. She was born July 31, 1913 in Leech Township, IL to Thomas and Nellie Carter and was the 4th of 6 children. She moved to Phoenix over 63 years ago with the love of her life husband, Bud Cummins and daughter Barbara.

Elsie was very active in community affairs, she was Sunnyslope Woman of the Year and Business Woman of the Year in 1957, a member and Vice President of Sunnyslope Lyoness Club, member of the Sunnyslope Chamber of Commerce, Sunnyslope Business & Professional Women's Club, North Phoenix Soroptimists, Eastern Star and very active with Big Sisters.

She was an active and dedicated member of First Christian Church specializing in the welcoming of new members. Elsie and Bud were the proud owners of Sunny Furniture Company in Sunnyslope, established in 1951.

Elsie is preceded in death by husband Ferrel (Bud) Cummins, son in law Paul R. Stewart and grandson Rick Stewart.

She is survived by daughter Barbara Stewart; sister Mildred Butler, Russ Stewart (Lori) and Paula Stewart; great grandchildren Jeff Stewart, Ron Norton, Steve Norton, Chris Stewart, Lindsey Stewart and Dee Walker; great great grandchildren Mackenzie, Allison, Kaitlyn, Dylan, Kamyron and Jaden.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Missionary Fund at First Christian Church. Elsie has a wonderful loving spirit and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her!!
