John V. Mangan was the son of John and Margaret Morrissey Mangan, both born in Ireland. He was born in Lambertville, NJ.

He was married to the late Sarah Cavanaugh Mangan and was a retired carpenter for the Penna. Railroad. He was born in July of 1866 (day unknown).

Mr. Mangan died at the age of 77 at the NJ State Hospital in Trenton.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Margaret (Edward J.) Meskill, wife of the postmaster of Lamberville, four sons: Rev. James A. Mangan, C. S. Sp., a missionary in Africa; Robert P. of Washington; Albert T. of Lambertville, and John F. Mangan of Hackensack; and 8 grandchildren.

John V. Mangan was the father of Rev. James A. Mangan, C. S. Sp., a missionary in Africa, formerly of Holy Ghost Missionary College, Cornwell Heights, Pa. with whom many of the officiating clergymen had been associated. 12 Catholic Church clergymen and dignitaries officiated at his funeral. Bearers were Jack Mangan, William Mangan, Frank A. Cavanaugh, Joseph McGowan, John Meskill and William Wilmot. Interment was in the church cemetery.

His obituary was published in the Lambertville Beacon on October 14, 1943. Additional information from his NJ death certificate.
