Good Woman Summoned -- Mrs. Fred F. Jennings Called Home After Brief Illness

Miss Lavena Boyd, daugter of Archie and Mary M. Boyd, was born June 19, 1883 near Lebanon, IN. She died after many days of intense suffering, October 12, 1917 in the Union hospital, Terre Haute, IN. During her suffering, as at all other times, she was patient, pleasant and hopeful.

At the age of sixteen she accepted christ as her savior and united with the first Christian church at Lebanon, IN. She later became a member of the Presbyterian church, first in Indiana and then in Kansas.

After her marriage she went with her husband to the Christian church. She lived a devout and zealous christian life, being a bible school teacher at the time of her death.

She married Frederick F. Jennings at Kansas, July 23, l913 and to them was born one son, little Simon Boyd(the correct name was Lyman). She was an affectionate wife, a devoted mother, a true home maker and an honor to the community in which she lived.

Besides her husband and child she leaves a father and mother, two sisters, Mrs. Delcena Dale and Mrs. Mary Gorhman of Indiana and four own brothers, Alex, Thomas, Frank of Indiana and William of California; and three half sisters, Mrs. Susana Laughhead, Mrs. Ura Gray of Wichita, Kansas, and Mrs. Ellen Wells of Indiana and one half brother, George Boyd. One brother and sister preceded her in death.

The funeral was held at the family residence Sunday morning at 10 O'clock conducted by Rev. W. A. Askew. Internment followed in Fairview cemetery.
