Joseph Paul Smith, 64, Lenexa, died Sept. 26, 1992, at his home. Born April 17, 1928, at Shidler, Okla., he lived in Iowa before moving to Lenexa 33 years ago.

He was an insurance salesman for Metropolitan Life and an employee of the Working Man's Friend service station on Roe Boulevard. He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Wellsville.

Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Smith, of the home; a son, Jim Smith, Lenexa; three daughters, Jo Peterson, Mandeville, La., Terri Spicher, Chesapeake, Va., Jan Strickling, Lenexa; a brother, W. W. Smith, St. Peters, Mo.; two sisters, Leila Connally, Beaumont, Texas, Opal Allen, Lamoni, Iowa; and 10 grandchildren.

There will be a graveside funeral at 1:30 p.m. today at Edgerton Cemetery, Edgerton. Funeral arrangements were provided by Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner.
