Leila Mae Connolly, 87, of Beaumont, Texas, formerly of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at her home in Beaumont.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Community of Christ Church, Moline. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Entombment will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Research, Community of Christ Church, Moline, or Community of Christ Church, Beaumont.
Leila was born Oct. 11, 1919, in Tulsa, Okla., the daughter of James Erwin and Grace Iona Chilcote Smith. She married Joseph A. Connolly on March 21, 1953, in Rock Island.
Prior to marriage Mrs. Connolly was employed at Alcoa. Later she worked with her husband at their family business, Capital TV Sales and Service in Moline.
Leila was a member of Community of Christ Church, Beaumont, and the former Community of Christ Church, Rock Island, where she taught Sunday school. She was an active member and past president of the PTA in Rock Island.
Mrs. Connolly performed with the theatrical group Masquers and was a talented artist, avid gardener and supporter of area fine are organizations.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph; daughters and sons-in-law, Leana M. and Thomas Foss; Valeree D. and Kevin Pieper; grandchildren, T.J. Foss, Aaron Foss, Matthew Foss, Heather Pieper and Hillary Pieper; brother, W.W. Smith, Bethany, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother.
