"J. Arlen Amsberry, 90, of Bussey died of a heart ailment Wednesday at his son's home in Urbandale. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Community of Christ Church in Knoxville, of which he was a 50-year member. Burial will be at Marysville Cemetery in Marion County.
Mr. Amsberry had lived in Bussey all his life. He was a coal mine owner and a shaft and strip miner before retiring.
He enjoyed bike riding and playing basketball. He is survived by his wife, Iva three sons, Tom of Dunlap, Norman of Urbandale and Richard of Park Rapids, Minnesota, a daughter, Peggy Davis of Holyoke, Colorado, a brother, Charles of California a sister, Ruth Bentley of Omaha 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville, where the family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church."
