Claude F. Hart, 101, of Quarryville, entered into his eternal rest at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community on Wednesday, December 30, 2015. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary E. Deiter Hart, who died in 2012. Claude was the loving and devoted father of four children, four grand-
children, eight great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter.

He was born on August 28, 1914, the son of the late Charles Chester Hart and the late Alice Feichtner Hart.

A graduate of Quarryville High School, Class of 1932, Claude was a lifelong crop farmer, who also specialized in beef and hog production. As a teenager he spent the week of the Farm Show in Harrisburg, cleaning and bedding the various livestock exhibits. Early in his career he supplemented his income during the winter by working for the US Postal Service and later on as an employee of Stoner Ink Co.

Following the sale of the home farm, he worked for the late Aaron Glick, Jim Kreider and the late Sam and Allen Kreider. In addition, he maintained an orchard, vegetable garden and rose garden. He picked apples until the age of 95 and delivered apple cider to Amish and English neighbors for many years.

Claude was active in his churches, most recently Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren where he taught adult Sunday School. Prior to that he attended Mt. Hope Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and served on the Official Board for several terms. Both he and his late wife delivered Meals on Wheels in the southern end and helped at the Solanco Fair during the sweet corn harvest.

He was also active in East Drumore Township serving as the Zoning Officer for many years.

He is survived by two sons, Jay C. "Bud" Hart, Quarryville, husband of Kathleen E. Penny-
packer, and Thomas Lee Hart, Ebensburg, Pa., and one daughter, Barbara Ann Shiffler, wife of Douglas Shiffler, Quarryville. Also surviving is his sister, H. Catherine Hoffer, of Lititz, Pa.
