Mary Elizabeth Hart, 91, of Quarryville, entered into her eternal rest at Hospice & Community Care, Saturday, October 20, 2012 after a 17-day battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Claude F. Hart, the loving and devoted mother of four children, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great, great grand- daughter.

Mary was born on February 11, 1921 in Hessdale. She was the daughter of the late Jacob Deiter and the late Barbara Siegel Deiter, who owned and operated a farm near Hessdale, P A.

A graduate of Strasburg High School, Class of 1939, Mary loved to cook, bake and entertain. She enjoyed word searches, game shows and the Phillies.

Following her high school graduation she worked for Eberly's Restaurant at Central Market in Lancaster and Slaymaker's who operated a market stand in Philadelphia.

After marriage she was employed at Stoner Ink: Co, Solanco School District, as a cafeteria worker, and in the bakery department of Musser's Market at the Buck.

Mary was very active in her churches, most recently Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren where she assisted with the newsletter. Prior she attended Mt Hope Methodist
Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Both she and her husband delivered Meals on Wheels in the southern end and helped at the Solanco Fair during the sweet com harvest.

In addition, to her husband of 70 years, she is survived by two sons, J. C. "Bud" Hart, Quarryville, husband of Kathleen E. Pennypacker, and Thomas Lee Hart, Ebensburg, Deiter and Clyde S. Deiter, and a son Larry Eugene "Pete" Hart, USMC.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral service at Mechanic Grove Church of the Brethren, 1392 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, PA on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 11:30AM with the Rev. James H. Rhen officiating. Friends may call on the family from 10:00AM until the time of service. Interment will take place at the Mt Hope Methodist Cemetery, Quarryville immediately following the service. If desired, contributions in Mary's memory may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O.
