Aversa, Alex A., 79, of Second Street, Brandon, Fl., formerly of Canadohta Lake, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Beverly Rehabilitation Center. He was born Sept. 29, 1920, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Raffeal and Concetta Morroco Aversa. He attended Bloomfield High School, then served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. He worked as a detective for the Woodring Detective Agency in Meadville, a security officer for J.M. Fields Department Store in Florida and as a building supply salesman. He also owned a pontoon boat and livery business in Canadohta Lake and managed the Raiders, Canadohta Lake band. He enjoyed coaching and officiating in softball leagues. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen "Vicky" Aversa; a sister Philomena Castleveter; a brother, Same Aversa; and a granddaughter, Dr. Sherrill Aversa. Survivors include three sons, Ralph, Alex, and Joseph Aversa, all of Valrico, Fl.; two daughters, Barbara Bennett Umiker of Brandon and Carol Bowes Schingel of Corry; a brother, Joseph Aversa of Centerville; two sisters, Mary T. Nozzarella of Pittsburgh and Nancy Falbo of Erie; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Burial was at St. Catherine Cemetery in Titusville.
